DHS Announces 90-Day Extension On All Expired Senior Discount Cards

FREDERIKSTED — In light of COVID-19 and the associated social distancing guidelines, The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services (DHS) has granted a 90-day extension for all expired Senior Identification (ID) cards effective March 15.

The Department is requesting that businesses and banking institutions recognize this announcement (along with the formal letter sent to respective institutions and businesses) as the official extension for Senior Discount Cards in order for seniors to continue to use their Senior ID for banking tractions and all other services requiring a valid Virgin Islands ID.

As of March 2020, the Department of Human Services made the decision to temporarily stop the issuance and renewal of Senior ID to protect the wellbeing of community seniors and the staff by adhering to social distancing and all precautionary measures for COIVID-19.

The DHS Senior Citizen Affairs Division anticipates resuming Senior Discount Card renewals operations in June 2020.

The SeniorCitizen Affair ID numbers are:
• St. Thomas- St. John – (340) 774-0930 ex.t 4018
• St. Croix – (340) 773-6630
