CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man is accused of punching his girlfriend in the face just before the Memorial Day holiday weekend, authorities said.
Khaleem Rieara, 40, of Paul M. Pearson Gardens was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Thursday and charged with simple assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Rieara is accused of striking his intimate partner in the face with a closed fist, causing visible injuries on May 19,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
“Bet you he won’t try that on a brother tho.” Avis Ronan said on Facebook today.
Rieara was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence laws.
He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
