Two St. Croix Women Injured In Estate Paradise Shooting Near Closed School

FREDERIKSTED — Police are investigating a shooting that took place near a closed elementary school in Estate Paradise that left two women injured on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired and an injured person in Estate Paradise, in the vicinity of the Evelyn Williams Elementary School before 2:40 p.m. Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers arrived to the area and found two women injured by gunfire,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Each victim was transported for medical treatment to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center via ambulance, according to Derima.

According to a photo provided by the VIPD, a silver Ford Focus and a white sedan were being processed for evidence after the shooting.

This incident is currently under active investigation.

Evelyn Williams Elementary School in Mount Pleasant West was closed in 2018 due to damage it sustained in Hurricane Maria the previous year.
