CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man faces stiff charges after being accused of choking, sodomizing and raping a woman last week, authorities said.
Stuart Drew, 41, of Strawberry Hill, was arrested at 2:52 p.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree rape-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“The victim in this incident, an adult female, reported that she was raped, sodomized, and strangled by Drew on March 29,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Derima was contacted tonight by the Virgin Islands Free Press and said that police could not reveal whether the sodomy was oral or anal “to protect the victim.”
Drew was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes.
He was released to the custody of his attorney pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
