Faith-Based Organization Founder Used Her Car To Assault Boyfriend, Then Maced Him: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix woman who founded a faith-based organization on island to help at-risk youth, allegedly used her vehicle to assault her ex-boyfriend, then maced him, authorities said.

Kimberly “Rae” Gereau, 33, of Estate St. Georges was arrested at 9:52 a.m. Saturday and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“An investigation revealed Gereau was the aggressor in an altercation with her ex-partner, where she assaulted him with her vehicle and sprayed him with mace,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Derima was asked how Gereau used the vehicle to allegedly assault her ex-boyfriend, and the police PIO promised this afternoon to get back to the Virgin Islands Free Press with an answer.

Gereau was allowed to post $5,000 bond and was released to a third-party custodian pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

She apparently founded the “Love Your Light, Inc.” organization on St. Croix that teaches school-aged children how to behave properly.

“Love Your Light fosters community consciousness’s natural emergence.,” it says on its website. “Through holistic empowerment , revolutionary wellness and mindfulness well-being we strive to uplift the youth and families of the U.S. Virgin Islands.”

Meanwhile, the comments associated with this article came fast and furious on social media this afternoon.

“He didn’t get the point so she had to uplift him with the car,” Bin Hameen said on Facebook. “I’m sure after he dropped on his back he saw the light (?).she was very mindful in what she did ..sure she gonna send over flowers for his wellness.”

“Since when do you get arrested on a Domestic Violence (charge) you get bail? Melvin Venzen asked from St. Thomas on Facebook.

“But wait I thought there was a zero tolerance on domestic violence how did she get bail?” Curlita Charles LeBlanc asked from Marigot, Dominica on Facebook. “Now if it was a man.”

“So the No Bail for Domestic Violence don’t apply to some I guess,” Gachi Garcia said on Facebook. “Talk about a justice system that only works for some!”

“My Puerto Rican girlfriend did that to me back in the 90’s and was a normal thing,” Johnny Rutz said from Andorra, Spain on Facebook. “Love my sweet Caribbean ladies.”
