Teenage Murder Suspect Jerome ‘Romes’ Wallace III Arrested In Upstate New York, Sheriff’s Office Says

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix teenager accused of murder in the territory was found hiding about 110 miles from New York City, authorities said.

Jerome “Romes” Wallace III, 19, of Strawberry Hill, was apprehended near Poughkeepsie, New York on June 24 on an active arrest warrant out of St. Croix for murder and other charges, the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Wallace appeared on the Virgin Islands Police Department’s arrest log on July 11, but VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said the arrest was made by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice’s Agent “T. Turnbull.”

Wallace was charged by the VIDOJ in St. Thomas with murder, assault, firearms possession, reckless endangerment, and conspiracy, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.

Wallace was tracked down and arrested by the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson said. 

Wallace was located and arrested in the Town of Fishkill by the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division.

After being processed he was arraigned before Dutchess County Court and was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with no bail.

Wallace remains at Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility while awaiting trial here in the territory.
