2 St. Thomas Men Charged in Assault At Mandahl Bay: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Two St. Thomas men were charged in a brutal assault at Mandahl Bay in which one man was choked on Monday morning, authorities said.

On August 24 at roughly 7:30 a.m., Christopher Bryan, 35, of Lerkenlund and Kevin Laplace II, 27, of Lower Hull turned themselves in to police, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The two men were charged with third-degree assault, simple assault & battery, and disturbance of the peace by fighting, relating to an incident on August 12, according to the VIPD.

“Bryan and Laplace were identified as the men who assaulted another man in Mandahl Bay,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Bryan allegedly attempted to strangle the victim, while Laplace aided in the assault by restraining the victim.”

Bail for Bryan and Laplace was set at $50,000 each. Unable to post bail, the men were remanded to custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending advice-of-rights hearings.

On November 8, 2019 the VIPD arrested a “Bryan A.K. Christopher, Jr.,” 20, of Pine Peace, St. John on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a machine gun and possession of ammunition in an incident on Nicholas “Nick” Friday Memorial Drive on St. Thomas.
