FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man who sought to resolve his differences with a family member by strangling them was arrested by police on Friday night, authorities said.
Deshawn Charlemagne, 25, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested at 8:00 p.m. Friday and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Charlemagne allegedly strangled a family member during a dispute, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Charlemagne was not offered bail, in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence statutes.
He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
