2 La Grange Men Arrested After Reporting Lindbergh Bay Attempted Robbery … For Having Stolen Firearm

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Two Frederiksted men holed up in a $170-per-night resort in Lindbergh Bay were arrested Saturday after they reported to police that someone tried to rob them at their hotel — because police found a stolen firearm in their possession.

Mallek Ilarraza, 23, and Omarion Francis, 18, each of Estate La Grange, were arrested at 5:32 p.m. Saturday charged with possession of a stolen firearm, reckless endangerment, constructive possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and possession of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Ilarraza and Francis were each alleged victims of an attempted robbery that occurred at the Emerald Beach Resort on October 16,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “During the course of the investigation into the incident, officers recovered a firearm.”

Police discovered that the recovered firearm was stolen and was possessed by Ilarraza and Francis, which resulted in their arrests, Derima added.
