Road Work Resumes On Melvin Evans Highway Starting Monday Morning

FREDERIKSTED — The Department of Public Works said repair work will resume on the Melvin Evan Highway Monday morning.

The East bound lane of the highway will be closed to traffic and motorists will be re-routed through Williams Delight neighborhood beginning on November 2.

“This will allow the contractor to complete milling from the Williams Delight Intersection to the West Airport Road,” DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said.

Work on the highway will take place Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Public Works said.

The total estimated cost of the project is $2,393,517.

“The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory.” Exius said.
