There have been at least 41 homicides in the territory to date.
“It is going to take more than marches to change the narrative on the violent crime waves affecting the USVI,” Jorge Estemac said. “The decision makers are to decide whether the problem is serious enough to warrant invitation for assistance from the federal government as was done after the Fountain Valley massacre on St. Croix and the violent crime wave that follows. Who remember how it was brought under control? With the collaboration with the feds. it was brought under control. Now the time is different but the need is just as urgent to seek outside assistance, the local law enforcement agencies seems to be overwhelmed, they cannot get an handle on the crime problem.”
