CHRISTIANSTED — On Tuesday, the Department of Public Works said its VITRAN St. Croix office will be closed until further notice.
Today, DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said “the entire Annas Hope Compound” would be closed “throughout the rest of the week.”
“The Annas Hope Main Office is expected to reopen on Monday, January 11, while the VITRAN St. Croix office will remain closed until further notice,” Exius said. “DPW thanks the public for their understanding as it takes the necessary steps to protect its employees.”
On Monday, at least two employees had tested positive for COVID-19, according to DPW. Since then “the department was notified of additional positive cases,” she said.
“St. Croix office closure due to several confirmed cases of coronavirus. Since then, the department was notified of additional positive cases, prompting the decision to close the entire Annas Hope Compound throughout the rest of the week,” Exius said. “The closure will affect the department’s Main Office, as well as VITRAN. Cleaning crews will sanitize all office spaces during the closure.”
DPW said it is urging the community to take personal responsibility and practice good hygiene to reduce their risk of contracting and/or spreading the coronavirus.
