CRUZ BAY — A St. John boat captain who just got married six months ago died in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday evening.
Ceneca E. “Drumie” Lindo, 36, of Estate Enighed died after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a car in Estate Adrian just before 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, the Virgin islands Police Department said.
Traffic Investigation Bureau officers on the crash scene said the driver of the automobile was rounding a corner when he saw a motorcycle coming straight towards his vehicle and could not maneuver to avoid it.
“Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed the operator of the motorcycle had no signs of life,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Lindo was a member of the V.I. Captain’s Association for boat captains. He became a boat captain in 2014.
This accident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about thee incident is asked to contact police by calling 911 or the Traffic Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211.
Meanwhile, the tributes for Lindo poured in on social media after learning of his death Tuesday evening.
“One of my favorite former elementary music students was a talented boat captain, DJ, always helping our school (his alma meter) where I teach and taught his children.” Anna Fisher said. “He just married last Summer, he was well loved by family and friends. He will be missed, my deepest condolences to the family circle, Drumie E Lindo. Rejoice in Paradise, Ceneca Lindo. You have forwarded to a better place and we will meet again one day.”
“Cuz, I really don’t believe ur gone too. 1st Samantha, now you the day afterm” Taniqua Simon said. “RIP Ceneca Lindo.”
“He will be greatly missed,” Rob Wayne said. “My condolences go out to all friends and family as well as all involved on this call. He was definitely a great guy.”
“Damn I have been in four motorcycle accidents in my youth gosh I remembered the road rashes the broken bones and dats not only it,” Lee Questel said. “I remember the deaths of Robin Turbe, and Lee Berry below Brooks bar, I was out fishing and when I came back home people was confused they thought I had died because I and Lee Berry was family and rumors spread fast. I never forgot the look on my mom’s face when she saw me alive, I promise her at that very moment when she asked me to sell my bike and never get on another one as long as she was alive. I kept that promise up to today. Anyhow, all of you brothers on two wheels today please take every precaution, please with love a survivor.”
