Mother And Child Health During COVID-19 Is The Focus Of Zoom Meeting Scheduled For Tonight

CHRISTIANSTED — Mother and child health during COVID-19 is the focus of a Zoom meeting planned for tonight by the Virgin Islands Department of Health.

“As we continue to endure the effects of COVID-19 within our community, the Project LAUNCH Program under MCH is encouraged to remain steadfast and creative in our deliveries of engaging activities for children and families in our birth through eight-year-old population,” VIDOH said.

“Our desire is to continue providing opportunities to celebrate the promotion of wellness by addressing the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of the development of children within the territory,” the department said.

“Join us for our Virtual Book Club Event ‘Reading with a Purpose’ on Wednesday, February 24th from 6:30-7:30 pm as we bring attention to both mental health and wellness through specific themes presented in the works of USVI & Caribbean authors, according to VIDOH.

This month’s story is Anansi and Mongoose read by the author Yohance Henley. We will also have Tarik McMillan from Greater Changes LLC and Zumba Instructor Amulen Wirsiy to support our well-being as a whole.

“Spread the word, and we hope to see you there!” VIDOH said.
