Resurfacing Of Melvin Evans Highway Starts On Westbound Lanes Today

FREDERIKSTED — The Department of Public Works said that repair work to the westbound lanes on the Melvin Evans Highway begins today.

The MEH highway from the West Airport Intersection to the Williams Delight Intersection will remain closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. from today to April 21st, according to DPW.

“The closure will allow the contractor to finish milling and paving the lanes,” DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said. “This is the fifth segment of this six-phase project.”

The public is asked to avoid these areas and use alternate routes as much as possible during this time, Exius said.

“The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory,” she said.
