South Carolina Man Arrested On Rape, Illegal Gun Charges Wednesday Morning

CHRISTIANSTED — A South Carolina man was arrested on rape and illegal gun charges on St. Croix late Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Timothy A. Morgan, 24, of Charleston, S.C. was arrested at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday and charged with first-degree rape, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Bail for Morgan was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

The news of Morgan’s arrest was posted to Twitter by the VIPD at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

All individuals listed as arrested or charged with a crime in this report are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
