Police Need Your Help To Find Melissa Defort Wanted For Stealing A Car: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police need your help to find a New Jersey native who is wanted for stealing a car in St. Thomas just over two weeks ago, authorities said.

Melissa Defort, 35, of Estate Ross, St. Thomas is wanted for unauthorized use of a vehicle, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The above subject is wanted in connection with an unauthorized use of a vehicle that occurred on April 30 on the island of St. Thomas,” the VIPD said on Twitter today.

Defort was described by police as being a black female who stands about 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds.

If you see Defort, you are asked to call 911 or Detective De;berth Phipps of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) at (340) 774-2211 x5557.

The news that Defort was wanted by police for questioning was posted to Twitter at 11:30 a.m. today.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
