SAN JUAN — The Arecibo Puerto Rico Drug Division, with the cooperation of personnel from the Aguadilla, Mayagüez and Utuado Drug Divisions, Special Arrests, Intelligence, Comprehensive Plan and K9, arrested 41 people this weekend after an illegal cock-fighting ring was discovered in the Las Tosas neighborhood of Florida, Puerto Rico.
Acting on a tip, authorities arrived at the scene and discovered cockfighting was taking place, so under Law 98, Article 8, which prohibits clandestine cockfighting, the 41 people were arrested.
One of the arrested, had a 9mm caliber gun, with no serial number, loaded with two magazines. He also had 27 bullets, $406.00 dollars in cash and 64 unidentified pills.
According to police, the following were also seized at the scene: a white Honda Civic, drug paraphernalia, 26 bags of marijuana, $935.00 in cash, a white Nissan Rogue, a Mitsubishi Lancer, four containers of marijuana, two bags of cocaine, a marijuana cigarette and a Sig Sauer gun, 9mm caliber, loaded with 12 bullets.
These cases will be consulted with the prosecutor on duty for the possible filing of corresponding charges. In addition, the people who were arrested in the illegal ring were summoned to the Barceloneta Court.
