CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly punching his girlfriend in the face, authorities said.
Valmon Glasford Jr., 23, of Charlotte Amalie, was arrested at 7:55 p.m. Thursday and charged with false imprisonment, third-degree assault and unlawful sexual contact-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Glasford’s girlfriend reported, he punched and kicked her in the face causing her to sustain swelling to the jaw, a chipped tooth, causing her a black eye,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said. “Glasford then threatened her with a knife and sexually abused her.”
Glasford was processed at the Richard N. Callwood Command police station. No bail was offered as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes.
He was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
