Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Underway After Gun Discharged In Clifton Hill Today

KINGSHILL — Police are investigating after an officer fired his weapon while talking to a suspect near mid-island St. Croix this morning. No injuries were reported.

Officers were dispatched to Estate Clifton Hill at 9:50 a.m. today after the 911 Emergency Call Center reported “a call of service,” the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“During the interaction with the suspect the officer’s discharged his weapon,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said. “(Neither) the officer nor the suspect was injured.”

These are the preliminary findings at this time, according to Dratte, adding that the incident is part of an ongoing investigation. 

St. Croix Central High School in Kingshill was put on lockdown by the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) after the officer discharged his weapon.
