Friends and Family of Juan Nales Jr. Release Photo of St. Croix Man Who Died In Crash

FREDERIKSTED The family of Juan Nales, Jr. have released a tribute photo of the Campo Rico man who died tragically in a car accident early this morning

Nales, 36, was the son of St. Croix fisherman Juan Nales, Sr. The younger Nales, who was known as “Junior,” died when his blue 2007 Acura TSX veered off the road and struck a tree shortly before 1:10 a.m. today, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Nales was driving his blue sedan north on Emancipation Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and it went off onto the eastern shoulder of the road and struck a tree, according to the VIPD.

EMTs at the scene did not detect vital signs on Nales and pronounced him dead at 1:27 a.m., police said.

A concerned citizen who noticed the one-car crash in Mars Hill called 911 stated that there was a man trapped inside the vehicle, and as a result, the dispatcher notified the VIPD, St. Croix Rescue, Fire Service, and EMS.

“The preliminary investigation disclosed that a blue 2007 Acura TSX was traveling from north to south on Emancipation Drive and while approaching the Canebrake Apartments the driver lost control of his vehicle and veered off the roadway onto the eastern shoulder and collided into a tree and the fence of Canebrake Apartments on the south-eastern shoulder of the roadway,” VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.
