CHARLOTTE AMALIE— The Virgin Islands Department of Health said that its John S. Moorehead Municipal Complex will remain closed today due to a lack of potable water.
The complex houses the offices of Vital Records and Statistics, Communicable Diseases and Environmental Health, will remain closed today, Thursday, March 16, due to a continued water service disruption.
The department is also informing the public that its Community Health office located at the Schneider Regional Medical Center also will close at 12 p.m. today due to a malfunctioning air conditioning unit.
“The department apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Health Commissioner Justa Encarnacion said.
The Moorehead clinical complex is adjacent to Human Services’ Knud Hansen Complex in Hospital Ground on St. Thomas.
The VIDOH was given $1,837,783 by FEMA in October 2020 for the demolition of the old mental health building and interior renovations to the department’s clinical buildings on St. Thomas.
