West Caret Bay Man With Marijuana In Checked Luggage Arrested At CEK Saturday

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A man was arrested after marijuana was discovered in his checked luggage at the St. Thomas airport this weekend, authorities said

Kahlil Y. Henley Jr, 18, of West Caret Bay, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Detectives were sent to the Cyril E. King airport at 4:00 p.m. Saturday to pick up a man who had been detained by federal agents, according to the VIPD.

Upon arrival, detectives met with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, who stated that Henley had been detained with two pieces of luggage, VIPD Communications Director Glen Dratte said.

Upon investigation, one of the bags contained a large quantity of a green leafy substance, police said.

“Henley was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Bureau after investigation revealed that the green leafy substance tested positive for marijuana,” according to Dratte.

At that time, Henley was arrested, booked, and processed, according to police.

Bail for Henley was set at $7,500.00. Unable to post bail, the suspect was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections at the St. Thomas jail.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
