Cops seeking woman after shooting at Questa Verde Condos in Hermon Hill

CHRISTIANSTED — A domestic violence incident turned ugly when a jealous woman shot her male friend outside a upscale condominium complex on St. Croix early this morning.

Valatina Sanchez, 30, is wanted for questioning in connection to a shooting outside Questa Verde Condominiums in Estate Hermon Hill, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The case began at 8:50 a.m. when 911 dispatchers “received several calls regarding a male gunshot victim in the roadway near Queste Verde,” according to the VIPD.

The unidentified male victim was transported for medical treatment at the Juan F. Luis Hospital and is in critical but stable condition, VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Sanchez is an Hispanic female with brown eyes. black hair, a light complexion and a slim build. She stands 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

The shooting suspect was last seen wearing khaki knee-length pants, a dark-colored shirt and carried a red or maroon handbag.

Sanchez is known to frequent the Williams Delight and “Estate Tamarind” areas of St. Croix, according to Chichester.

This case is very much under active investigation, according to police.

“The VIPD is reminding the community if harboring a fugitive from arrest can be punishable by law,” the police spokeswoman said.
