Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by sedan in Krum Bay

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a sedan in Krum Bay on St. Thomas this week.

The case began at 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, when a Traffic Unit was dispatched to Krum Bay Road near Ace Hardware to investigate a pedestrian who was unresponsive after being hit by a vehicle, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that an orange Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound
on Krum Bay Road toward Ace Hardware store, while the pedestrian was crossing northward
when he was struck by the vehicle,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said. “The pedestrian was transported via ambulance to the Schneider Hospital for further treatment.”

The pedestrian sustained multiple injuries and is currently in critical condition, according to Chichester.
