Man fatally shot at Embers Guest House named by police

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Virgin Islands Police have identified the man fatally shot at the shuttered Embers Guest House in St. Thomas on Saturday as 54-year-old Pedro Nolazco Gutierrez Puntier of the Dominican
Republic.

Police said they found Gutierrez-Puntier with multiple gunshot wounds in Contant shortly after 9:25 p.m. on December 21 where he was pronounced dead.

Additionally, six other victims, who sustained gunshot wounds, were taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death brings the total number of homicides reported in the territory so far this year to 44, including 23 on  St. Thomas and 21 on St. Croix.

This case is being actively investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.
