CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is proud to announce the arrest of 19-year-old Tyshaune Rey Jr., a repeat offender who brazenly targeted multiple businesses all around St. Thomas.
Here are the locations and charges associated with the crimes, according to the VIPD.
Cardow
On January 15,2025, the Criminal Investigation Bureau was notified by 911 Emergency Call Center to travel to Cardow Main Street in reference to a possible robbery.
Upon arrival CIB Detectives met with the employees who stated the suspect walked in the business and asked to see 3 pieces of jewelry and while the employee turned her back, he ran out of the doors not paying for the jewelry. Surveillance footage captured an individual running from the business with the jewelry in his hands.
Charge: Grand Larceny. Bail $20,000.00.

McDonald’s
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, officers were dispatched to the Lockhart Gardens area of McDonald’s after a 9-1-1 call reporting a robbery in progress. Upon their arrival, they spoke with one of the victims who recounted that while she was serving a customer at the drive thru, an unidentified male approached the window, leaned his upper body through the opening, and began to remove approximately $600.00 in cash from the register. She noted that the suspect had his hands concealed in the jacket he was wearing, which led her to believe he may have been armed with a firearm.
Charges: First-degree robbery, Third-degree robbery and Grand Larceny. Bail $75,000.00.
Pueblo Long Bay
On Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., CIB detectives responded to a Grand Larceny at Pueblo Supermarket in Long Bay. Surveillance footage captured a masked individual entering the store, forcefully grabbing approximately $500 from the cash pan, and fleeing the scene on foot.
Charges: Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny. Bail $20,000.00.
K-Mart Lockhart Gardens
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., CIB detectives responded to a Grand Larceny at Kmart Lockhart Gardens regarding a male who had removed cash from a cash pan and fled the scene on foot. Officers subsequently conducted an inspection of the area and encountered a black male dressed in a gray hoodie and black cargo pants, matching the description provided in the Kmart surveillance footage.
Charges: Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny. Bail $20,000.00.
Despite initial efforts to evade capture, Tyshaune Rey’s crime spree came to an abrupt end on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. VIPD officers and CIB detectives responded within moments, quickly identifying Rey as the perpetrator. With irrefutable video surveillance evidence, eyewitness testimony, and prior investigative leads, officers moved swiftly, placing him under arrest.
Tyshaune Rey Jr. was advised of his rights, booked, processed, and remanded to the Bureau of
Corrections pending his Advice of Rights.
This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with
