CHARLOTTE AMALIE —Virgin Islands Police are investigating after a St. Thomas suspect charged at a man with a knife who had been arguing with his father in Hospital Ground, authorities said.
Jose Garcia Jr., 32, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, use of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime and disturbance of the peace, according to the VIPD.
Garcia Jr. is considered “a second suspect in connection with an assault which occurred in the vicinity of Hospital Ground, police said.
Garcia Jr’s bail was set at $25,000.00.

The male victim stated that on Monday, February 10, 2025, he and Jose Garcia Sr. became “embroiled in an altercation, during which Jose Garcia Sr. made death threats to him and swung a glass bottle, in an attempt to strike him,” according to police.
Jose Garcia Sr. reportedly made a phone call to his son, Jose Garcia Jr., who arrived on the scene shortly thereafter wielding a long knife and allegedly charged at the victim with same, police said.
Eyewitnesses and video footage confirmed the victim’s account. Jose Garcia Jr. admitted to possessing a knife during the incident, adding that he used the knife to intimidate the victim, according to police.
