VIWMA ‘temporarily’ closes Anguilla landfill on Easter Sunday

FREDERIKSTED – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority said today that the Anguilla Landfill will be closed today, Sunday, April 20, 2025, “due to mechanical issues.”

VIWMA’s prepared statement did not say what the “mechanical issues” at the landfill were.

But it employs weighing stations for commercial trucking at its south shore facility.

The landfill is the main disposal site for municipal solid waste on St. Croix.

The VIWMA said it “remains dedicated to providing reliable services and appreciates the
community’s ongoing support and understanding.”
