FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man is facing an illegal weapon charge after he allegedly threatened a minor with a firearm in connection to a stolen bicycle, authorities said.
Steven Weeks, 55, of Williams Delight, was arrested today and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The charge stems from a February 23, 2025 incident in which 911 dispatchers got reports of an adult male pointing a firearm at a minor in the Williams Delight residential area, according to the VIPD.

Responding officers met with the victim and several other witnesses who stated that Steven Weeks threatened a minor with a firearm, police said.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were assigned to investigate this matter, according to police.
“The investigation revealed that Weeks became enraged after he learned that someone stole his grandchild’s bike from the yard,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.
Weeks armed himself with a firearm and confronted a minor under the age of 12 with the firearm, demanding the minor leave with him to locate his grandchild’s bike, according to Chichester.
Several citizens observed Weeks holding the gun on the minor, she said.
Detectives interviewed Weeks about the matter, but advised of his Miranda rights first, when he admitted that “he had a pellet gun only to retrieve the bike,” police said.
On May 20, 2025, an arrest and search warrant were issued by a judge of the Superior Court, according to police.
On May 29, 2025, the search and arrest warrants were executed at the home of Weeks.
Weeks was placed under arrest and taken into official custody without incident.
Bail for Weeks was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Golden Grove.
The suspect is scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court.
