Happy Halloween! Your weekend forecast isn’t that frightful …

On St. Croix, a couple of brief showers late this morning with variable clouds and a high of 88, AccuWeather said.

Tonight St. Croix can expect cloudy conditions with a thunderstorm in spots late and a low of 80, according to AccuWeather.

Hurricane Melissa s in the process of becoming a post-tropical cyclone and is rapidly losing its tropical characteristics.

An approaching tropical wave will lead to a mix of weather hazards through the weekend across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the National Weather Service said.

Be aware of warm conditions and showers with isolated thunderstorms this weekend, according to the NWS.

Another hot day is expected across the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, the NWS said.

Therefore, a Heat Advisory has been issued for the coastal and urban areas of the USVI and Puerto Rico from 10 AM to 4 PM AST, according to the NWS.

Yesterday, we set a new temperature record of 93ºF in San Juan!

This ties the old record of 93ºF set in 1915.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 PM AST THIS AFTERNOON

* WHAT…This level of heat affect most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts possible in some health system and in heat-sensitive industries.

* WHERE…All urban and coastal areas of Puerto Rico, as well as the eastern interior of Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

* WHEN…From 10 AM this morning to 4 PM AST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing.

Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
