
Tropical Storm Melissa
Confidence in the forecast remains low on trajectory and intensity beyond Day 3.
The potential impacts of weather and maritime in Puerto Rico and the USVI will be dependent on small changes in the trajectory of the system.
Rain Potential: According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), between 2 and 4 inches of rain are expected through the end of the work week, mainly associated with the remaining moisture and the outer bands of Tropical Storm Melissa.
Periods of locally heavy rain could affect sectors of the islands, causing urban flooding or poor drainage.

Outer bands from Tropical Storm Melissa, currently located about 300 miles south-southwest of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the National Weather Service said.
The storm will continue moving across the local waters and are expected to reach coastal areas of southern and eastern Puerto Rico throughout the day, according to the NWS.

The bands will bring periods of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and isolated thunderstorms, the NWS said.
Localized flooding is expected today, mainly across urban and low-lying areas along the southern coastal and western portions of Puerto Rico, according to the NWS.
Periods of rainfall, breezy winds, and thunderstorms are possible this evening and overnight in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across southern and eastern Puerto Rico, the NWS said.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms will increase the risk of urban flooding, in low-lying areas, and along small streams.

A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the offshore Atlantic waters and local passages until 6 PM AST.
A High Rip Current Risk will also continue for the northern beaches of Puerto Rico, Culebra, and St. Thomas.

Large breaking waves and life-threatening rip currents will continue.
