‘Bad Santa’ faces assault charge and more after debauched pub crawl

CHARLOTTE AMALIE – There’s no season where “bad behavior” and “Santa,” go well together.

But especially when there are still 10 days left until Thanksgiving …

A St. Thomas resident faces a multitude of charges after she allegedly not only abused a bar patron – but also multiple bars.

Santa Cabral was arrested and charged with destruction of property, second-degree assault & battery, simple assault & battery and disturbance of the peace, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The charges stem from a report that a woman had been punched in the face by another woman in a bar shortly before 1:06 a.m. Sunday, according to the VIPD.

Patrol officers were immediately dispatched to En Canto Bar in response to the complaint early Sunday morning.

Responding officers contacted a witness who stated that the suspect, Santa Cabral, had been standing outside the establishment when she threw a rock at the door, causing the glass to shatter, police said.

While officers were still on scene, 911 Emergency Services dispatched them to an additional assault in progress at Classico Bar, located on Gamble Gade, in close proximity to En Canto Bar, according to police.

Officers responded on foot and made contact with a second victim, police said.

The victim reported that the same suspect entered the bar, spat in her face, punched her, and repeatedly
slammed the business door, according to police.

Officers conducted a foot search of the surrounding Savan area and successfully located the suspect, Santa Cabral, police said.

Cabral appeared to be intoxicated and was transported to the Schneider Hospital in Charlotte Amalie for treatment of her injuries, including a laceration to the head, according to police.

Following medical clearance, Cabral was read her Miranda Rights, taken into official custody, booked and processed.

Her bail was set at $51,500.00 in accordance with the Virgin Islands Code.

Cabral was unable to post bail and was subsequently transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the St. Thomas jail.

She remains there pending an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Charlotte Amalie.

The Virgin Islands Police Department remains committed to maintaining public safety and
responding swiftly to incidents of violence within our community.
