Erron Wallace faces child abuse charge for strangling boy who tried to break up man’s fight with his mom

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man faces child abuse-related charges for allegedly strangling a boy who tried to break up a fight between the man and his mother, authorities said.

Erron Wallace, 32, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence and child abuse, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on November 4, 2025, at around 9:44 a.m., when the father of a 14-year-old boy told 911 dispatchers about a fight between Erron Wallace and the boy’s mother, according to the VIPD.

Patrol officers were dispatched to Harbor View Apartments, where they made contact with the father of the 14-year-old, who informed the officers that his son told him that Erron Wallace had strangled him, police said.

A detective from the Criminal Investigation Bureau was assigned to investigate the incident, according to police.

Officers met with the 14-year-old victim and the investigation revealed that the victim had tried to intervene when his mother and Wallace were fighting, police said.

As the boy tried to intervene, Wallace grabbed him and held him down on the floor by his neck, which resulted in visible injuries to the victim’s neck, according to police.

Wallace was taken into official custody and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station where he provided a statement, police said.

“He admitted that the victim had tried to get between him and the victim’s mother during an altercation, however he denied strangling the victim,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Wallace was booked and processed.

No bail was offered to the suspect in keeping with the territory’s domestic violence statutes.

Wallace was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell
Adult Correctional Facility in Estate Golden Grove.

He was scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Estate Kingshill this morning.
