CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix woman faces assault and related charges for allegedly spraying “insecticide” into the faces of two victims.
Christmel Berra, 21, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, disturbance of the peace by threats and third-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
Patrol units responded to a reported “disturbance” in Estate Richmond on November 22, 2025, at approximately 9:54 p.m., according to the VIPD.

Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau assigned to investigate this case, found that the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Christmel Berra, assaulted two adult females by spraying an insecticide directly in their faces, police said.
Berra also assaulted one of the females with a plastic chair, then armed herself with a knife, and made threats with the weapon before leaving the scene, according to police.
On December 2, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Chrismel Berra was present at the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where she was advised of her rights, interviewed, and placed under arrest.
Berra was booked, and processed. No bail was offered to her as per the territory’s domestic violence laws.
She was transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A Bell Adult Correctional Facility in Estate Golden Grove.
Berra was scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing at the Superior Court in Estate Kingshill this morning.
