Cops arrest suspect after shooting leaves man injured in Frederiksted Town

FREDERIKSTED — Virgin Islands Police said they have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left a man seriously in Frederiksted Town tonight.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is investigating the shooting that occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. today on Fisher and Queen Street in Frederiksted, according to the VIPD.

“The incident involved a male victim who sustained gunshot wounds,” police said in a prepared statement.

The unnamed victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, according to police.

A suspect is in custody at this time, police said.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau and VIPD Forensic Services were dispatched to the scene and are actively conducting the investigation, according to police.

People on social media expressed an air of caution and were practical in their approach to Saturday night’s shooting in St. Croix.

“It just doesn’t stop (red emoji),” Lee Rosa said on Facebook. “I hope you guys find every last person that has been killing people. It’s sad that in the month of December families has been losing they kids and family members. I am scared to go back home to my island.”
