FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man faces an assault charge after a woman filed a domestic violence complaint with police.
Clement Cintron III, 30, was arrested and charged with simple assault & battery, disturbance of the peace by fighting and destruction to property, all acts of domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The charges stem from a female victim who contacted 911 dispatchers on January 2, 2026, at approximately 12:39 a.m., to say that “she was assaulted by Clemente Cintron III and other members of his family,” according to the VIPD.

“Investigation into this matter revealed that Cintron III assaulted the victim causing visible injuries,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

He was then taken into official custody, booked and processed.

Important Context: In the U.S. Virgin Islands, “Domestic Violence” is not a standalone charge but a designation applied to other crimes (like assault or property destruction) when they occur between family members, household members, or romantic partners. This designation often leads to stricter bond conditions and mandatory court appearances.
