Shots fired during domestic dispute brings cops calling to Upper Love

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man has been jailed in connection to a domestic dispute in Upper Love in which shots were fired, authorities said.

Edwardo Garcia Jr., 55, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, carrying of a firearm openly or concealed, first-degree, first-degree reckless endangerment and aiming or discharging a firearm, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

On January 2, 2026, at around 12:39 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of an altercation between a male and female at a residence in Upper Love, according to the VIPD.

Shortly thereafter, ShotSpotter notified that four shots were fired at the same location.

Police Officers from the Patrol Division arrived on scene and were informed by the complainant that Edwardo Garcia Jr. fired shots at her.

Officers then took Edwardo Garcia Jr. into custody.

A Criminal Investigation Bureau detective assigned to investigate this case, found that the complainant traveled to her boyfriend’s house to retrieve some items that she forgot.

While there, she got into an argument with her boyfriend’s family, which soon turned into a physical altercation.

While the complainant sat in her vehicle, Edwardo Garcia Jr. approached her with a handgun and began firing shots at her, striking her vehicle. Four spent cartridge casings were collected from the scene.

Edwardo Garcia Jr., age 55, was transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station,
where he was placed under arrest, booked, and processed.

He was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

His bail was set at $100,000.00.
