ST. THOMAS — A high-speed pursuit through the streets of Charlotte Amalie ended in the arrest of a 30-year-old man Thursday morning after he nearly collided with a police vehicle during a robbery investigation.
Members of the Special Operations Bureau were canvassing the area around Main Street following reports of a robbery in progress when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Irvin “Brownie” Brown Street.
After narrowly avoiding a collision with the officers, the vehicle was intercepted for a traffic stop.

Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Ricaldo Thomas, officers detected the telltale odor of marijuana emanating from the cabin.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an illegal firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of narcotics contraband.
Thomas was immediately taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
Following his arrest, Thomas was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections after failing to post a $67,500.00 bail.
