23-year-old man shot to death in Golden Rock

CHRISTIANSTED — Police are investigating a shooting in Golden Rock that left a 20-year-old St. Croix man dead this morning.

Tyree Rentas was positively identified by a family member as the deceased, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The incident occurred at around 11:20 a.m., when the 911 Emergency Call Center received calls from several individuals stating a man was shot in the head at the Harbor View Apartments near Building 8, according to the VIPD.

MURDER VICTIM: Tyree Rentas, 23, of St. Croix.

VIPD, EMS, Fire Department, Criminal Investigation Bureau, and Forensic Units were all dispatched to the crime scene, police said.

EMS transported Rentas to Juan Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Medical Emergency attendants, according to police.

“The VIPD swiftly apprehended a possible suspect, and he was taken into custody for questioning,” police said on Facebook this afternoon.

This case is still under active investigation at this time. Updates will be provided as it becomes available.

  1. Blessed day, the last photo you have with the murder victim needs to be removed or crop. I am pleading with you because I the way how island people thinks and make up stories is ridiculous‼️ That other young man is a hard working son/brother PLEASE REMOVE OR CROP THE PICTURE‼️‼️‼️
