‘Multiple’ assailants with ‘long guns’ hold up victims at Point Pleasant Resort

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating after “multiple” gunmen held up victims at the Point Pleasant Resort in St. Thomas just after midnight.

Officers were dispatched to Point Pleasant Resort after a call was made to the 911 Call Center about a robbery that took place on the premises shortly before 12:30 a.m. today, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Detectives interviewed the victims at the scene who told them that after leaving the Red Hook area and arriving to the resort they were cut off by another vehicle forcing them to stop before gaining entry to the property, according to the VIPD.

“The victims stated there were multiple assailants wearing masks and dressed in black, and while blocking their entry these suspects exited their vehicle with what was described by the victims as ‘long guns,'” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said. “Another stated that they were asked to empty their pockets and were struck several times to the head with weapons after they were ordered to give over their personal items.”

One victim stated that after being assaulted, one of the suspects took one of his cards from his wallet and placed it in what he described as a “black box,” according to Chichester.

The victims were not able to identify any of the suspects in this matter, police said.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
