CHARLOTTE AMALIE — U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert said today that a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Bombing Prevention Awareness Course (BPAC) will be offered two days next week at the VITEMA offices on St. Thomas.
On December 5 and 6, the courses will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Shappert said.
“The BPAC provides participants with training regarding general bombing prevention measures from improvised explosive device (IED) construction and classification through protective measures for potential bombing incidents,” she said.
The day-long course, taught by Explosive Specialists from The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), enhances the participants’ understanding of the IED threat and provides valuable information for law enforcement and first responders regarding how to mitigate the impact of a bombing incident.
The training will also cover issues associated with potential terrorist attacks, suspicious behaviors, and protective
measures available to law enforcement.

Online registration can be completed through the FEMA Center for Domestic Preparedness.
Students require a FEMA Student Identification (SID) number to register.

Students will also be permitted to register for the course in person at VITEMA December 5th and Dec 6th.
