FREDERIKSTED — A heated argument between family members left one St. Croix man dead this morning in Estate Whim.
Allan Joseph, 30, was discovered in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper body sometime after 7:58 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The family told police that they heard a single shot and shortly after discovered Allan bleeding from the head, according to the VIPD.
“Jamal Joseph was disarmed and the weapon secured,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “Preliminary Investigation revealed that both brothers were outside smoking marijuana alone while the other family members were inside the home.”
Jamal Joseph, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and he was remanded at the Golden Grove Detention Center pending an advice-of-rights hearing on Monday, according to Dratte.
EMTs and medical attendants traveled to the crime scene and were unable to detect vital signs on Allan Joseph.
The medical examiner’s office transported the dead man to the Juan F. Luis Hospital morgue.
The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police to a shooting in Estate Whim about 7:58 a.m.
It is the fourth homicide of the year for the territory. All of the murders have happened in St. Croix.
What does smoking marijuana have to do with the fact that one brother is dead .YOU ARE JUST LIKE THE IDIOTS THAT REPORT ALL THE IRRELEVANT INFORMATION JUST TO MAKE THE STORY SOUND GOOD.Come on guy you should be able to do a better story and that sucks
This is a direct quote from the Virgin Islands Police Department: “Preliminary Investigation revealed that both brothers were outside smoking marijuana alone while the other family members were inside the home.” We have updated the article accordingly.
In the context of this story, I think a more valid link between marijuana use and human behavior might include increased urge for munchies, laughing and fewer aches and pains. Just sayin’.
Are VI drivers license personal information to be used for public publication?
