Aaron Chiang Accused of Assaulting Girlfriend At Point Udall Rather Than Take Her To Work

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix woman told police that when she asked her boyfriend to take her to work — he took her to a popular tourist spot and assaulted her instead.

Aaron C. Chiang, 24 of Spring Garden was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, kidnapping and simple assault & battery-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The woman told police at 7:05 p.m, Tuesday that Chiang held her against her will and took her to Point Udall instead of her place of employment, according to the VIPD.

After the assault, she “managed to convince Chiang to take her to Christiansted where she was able to call for help” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

Chiang turned himself in to police at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Station where he was advised of his Miranda Rights, according to Dratte.

“He gave a statement and admitted to holding the female against her will,.” Dratte said.

Chiang was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Facility pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute.
