CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police said an underage girl was physically attacked by a St. Thomas man once she went inside his residence on Monday.
Thierre Jonte Louis, 19, was arrested at an undisclosed residence and charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
When the 17-year-old girl was inside Louis’ place, he allegedly started strangling and slapping her, according to the VIPD.
“During the investigative process detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit observed that the victim had red marks, scratches and bruises on her upper chest, neck and chin,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.
This case is currently under active investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit.
“The minor you refer to in the Thierre Jonte Louis article was attacked in her vehicle by this man,” Erin Kelli Salzbrun said on Facebook. “This is not reflected in your article and I believe it has caused unnecessary victim-blaming/shaming amongst ignorant Facebook users and VI residence.”
