CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Virgin Islands Police Department officers from the M. C. Newton Command and units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, traveled to the Roy Schneider Regional Medical Center in response to a reported assault at about 10:30 a.m Tuesday.
When officers arrived at the hospital, police met with “an adult black male,” Ivan Alexander, who stated that about 10:00 a.m. he was walking on the public roadway in the area of Louie’s Market in Smith Bay, according to the VIPD.
While walking, Alexander told police that he felt a stinging sensation to the left side of his back. He also told officers that he did not hear any gunshots or observed anyone in the area with a gun.
Alexander sustained a laceration to the left side of his back and was treated and released from the medical center, according to VIPD spokesman Karl Caesar.
This case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
