VIPD: Man Wearing Hoodie, Sunglasses Robs Subway Restaurant Friday Night

CHRISTIANSTED — A fast food restaurant in front of the U.S. District Court building in St. Croix was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash on Friday night, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a robbery at the Subway restaurant in Estate Golden Rock about 7:43 p.m. on Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Investigation revealed that an unknown male entered the restaurant and demanded the employees open the cash register and the safe,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The employees complied, and the suspect took money from both places. The suspect then left the area in an unknown vehicle.”

The suspect was dressed in a dark hoodie with long light jeans, according to the VIPD. He wore sunglasses at night.

This case is currently under active investigation.
