Strawberry Man Shot On Christmas Day In St. Croix: 911 Emergency Call Center

MID-ISLAND, ST. CROIX — Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that happened in Estate Strawberry early on Christmas Day.

A man described as being in his early 20’s was shot in the leg about 12:02 a.m. on Wednesday.

The unidentified victim reportedly sustained a single gunshot wound to the right leg with the bullet exiting through his foot.

Details were sketchy as no official Virgin Islands Police Department information has been released to the media or public, but sources said the man was walking in an Estate Strawberry residential area when he was shot.

The man was taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

In an unrelated matter, the VIPD was notified of a sexual assault that occurred in Estate La Grande Princess about 12:14 p.m. on Christmas Eve Day.

The incident was classified as a second-degree unlawful sexual contact crime by the 911 Emergency Call Center. No further information was available about the attack.
