St. Thomas Man Fights Off Jewelry Thieves … Until They Pull Their Guns Out: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was robbed of his jewelry at his residence after armed men jumped out of a vehicle and pointed guns at him, authorities said.

Police received a report of a 1st Degree Robbery in Estate Mariendahl at 11:58 p.m. on Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The victim reported that he arrived at his residence when an unknown male with a shirt covering his face jumped out of a vehicle and attempted to steal his jewelry, according to the VIPD.

“The victim resisted, and three other unknown males with their faces covered exited the same vehicle and pointed handguns at him,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The first suspect then removed the victim’s jewelry, and the suspects left the area in an unknown direction.”

This incident is currently under active investigation.

“People out there hungry for food and they out there robbing people for jewelry,” Delores Hyman wrote on Facebook. “Come now!”
