St. Croix Man Abducted And Driven To ATM Machine To Withdraw Money: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was injured during an abduction in which the kidnapper took him to an automatic teller machine to withdraw money from his account, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received calls reporting an abduction of an adult male from downtown Frederiksted about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The man was taken against his will and transported to multiple locations where his ATM card was used to withdraw money from his account,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “He was later released with minor injuries.”

This case is currently under active investigation.
